9th August - Eid. Your mum managed to get about an hour of sleep and woke up at 5:30 with a jolt. Her water had broken. I found it unbelievable as she'd had you inside her for only 34 weeks. Yes the first sign of a miracle of some sort! What lay ahead though was...well not for the weak hearted - to say the least. Your mum and I left home at 5:30 am for the hospital. I was half asleep. Mum obviously was wide awake and in a great deal of pain.
We reached the hospital at approximately 6 am. And rushed to the casualty ward - I still fail to understand why people would call it that! Anyway, your mum was asked to lie on a fairly well equipped gurney in a not so fancy casualty ward. The attending nurse put a device to your mum's tummy to check for your heart beat; While another attendant tried to reach the resident doc over the phone. It took about 5 mins to get through to the doc. In the meanwhile, we could hear your heart beat -   not the most pleasant experience in the world. Here's why. The monitor started flashing your heart beat at 121 - which was about 32 less that what we had been used to. And then you decided to begin playing with us! Your heart beat decreased steadily from 121 to 72! All the while your mum kept asking what the score was - as she couldn't see. I kept lying with a heavy heart.
And then as if the world had just ended - we could not hear your heart beat! You and mum were rushed to the emergency room! Thankfully your mums doc - Doc Raut - the angel! - showed up 5 mins later.
Mum and you were taken into the operation theater - again I dont understand why they would call it a theater - at 645 am. The last expression I saw on your mum's face showed a similar expectation as mine - minimal. I caught Doc Raut on her way into the OT and just stared at her - at a complete loss for words. She looked at me and smiled and said things were going to be fine. That was the best thing that had happened till that point!
I called all your grandparents and told them about what was going on. Called Anoop and Rashi - they were on their way down! By 705am I would have probably walked a kilometer outside the OT! I saw a silhouette from the corner of my left eye - coming out of the door. I didnt think much and was about to keep walking. And there you were - in the arms of the second angel - Doc Shrivastava (the silhouette)!! Looking at you I honestly did not know which feeling was more overpowering - happiness or relief. Sorry but if someone held a gun to my head and asked me to choose, I would probably go with relief!!!
